I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor who partners with a Canine Therapy Animal to provide clinical care that can bring comfort and peace of mind, while discovering and changing internal negative thoughts and beliefs. Animal Assisted Counseling is a proven method to help relieve feelings of depression and anxiety that lead to behavior and relationship distress.
I have a Doctorate Degree in Counseling Education and Supervision from Capella University, Minneapolis, MN. I graduated as a member of Chi Sigma Iota a counseling academic and professional honor society. I have been practicing as a professional counselor since 1997.
I started my professional career as a Coordinator of an Adolescent Substance Abuse Program in a community agency. I developed policy, procedure and programs in conjunction with the Department of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Agency. I worked with Adolescents who were at risk of developing Addictions due to personal and family difficulties. I also worked as a counselor of a middle school to help children who were not able to function effectively in a school setting.
I worked as a Director of an Adult Substance Abuse Outpatient Treatment Program. I supervised clinical staff as well as overseeing all aspects of program compliance and development. I worked in conjunction with other community resource centers to help individuals maintain and continue to develop a healthy sober lifestyle.
I worked as a licensed clinical professional counselor for children, adults and families to overcome emotional behavior difficulties. I met with children who were referred for services by the Department of Children and Family Services, Juvenile Court, Schools and Psychiatric Care Hospitals. I worked with adults who were working to develop and maintain a healthy emotional and physical lifestyle.
I have also worked as the Director of Psychological Health for the Illinois Army National Guard. In this role I provided psycho-educational support, consultation, and direct services to Command, Service Members, Community Agencies, and Families.
Currently I work in private practice to help individuals and Families achieve happiness and full life functioning.
